'Magical Jungle' - Yoga Retreat Peru

Peru is high on the bucket list of many avid travelers and with good reason! This amazing country has so much to offer and offers beautiful options for the conscious yoga traveler.

On this retreat, you get to take a break, connect with nature and explore your yoga practice on and off the mat. Steffi and Suze guide you through daily yoga sessions that will allow you to slow down and follow your inner roadmap during this week. The morning classes offer a strong and focused practice combined with deep meditation. The evening classes focus on the yin qualities of the practice and Yoga Nidra. Slow movement and longer holds in the poses allow your body to release tension and prepare you for a good night sleep in the jungle. Bring your journal and get ready for some inner explorations and reflections.

Through the daily practices and the day-trip, we connect deeply to nature and the environment we are a part of. Enjoying the beautiful smells and sounds of the jungle while practicing in an open yoga space. Including our amazing surroundings in our practice we allow the powerful energy of the Peruvian forest to change the way we look at ourselves, our lives and the world we live in.

The yoga sessions are combined with a sustainability module and a day trip through the beautiful rainforest mountains where we get to both enjoy the magic of the rainforest as well as learn about the importance of biodiversity and the sustainable initiatives we can support in the area. Elements that all enhance each other, leaving a lasting impact and making this a journey to never forget! Together we move towards a more connected and holistic way of living.

In your free time, you can relax in a hammock, swim in the river, go for nature walks, visit nearby towns or just relax with a good book.

Do you not want to miss out on Machu Picchu while visiting Peru? We definitely don't! This is why we organized a beautiful trip along the Inca Trail to Macchu Picchu that you can add to your retreat booking! The trip is completely taken care of by one of the best sustainable travel agencies in Peru that offers you an authentic, educational and adventurous experience of this amazing country!

We start our 5-day trip by taking the flight from Tarapoto to Lima and on to Cusco. Upon arrival in Cusco in the afternoon, our driver will be waiting for us. He will bring us right away to the Sacred Valley in the beautiful village Ollantaytambo, where we can get used to the high altitude.

It was built by the Incas for their Emperor Pachacutec around 1430 AD and strategically located between the deep gorges and impressive mountains called Apus (mountain gods of the Incas). In the morning we will have a two to two and a half hour tour in Machu Picchu, after which we can explore the site on our own. SUSTAINABILITY MODULE

Yoga Retreats offer a unique opportunity to become still, dive deep and reconnect. Connecting with ourselves opens the door for us to connect to life and the world we live in on a deeper level. This can feel like coming home, but can also be painful as we become fully aware of the pain that exists on our planet and how our collective actions have contributed to it. This includes the state of our ecosystem and other urgent issues we are facing on a global level.

Together we will embark on an inward journey applying yoga, forgiveness and self-discovery techniques to reveal practical ways you can share your heart’s calling and create a positive impact.

In the middle of the week, we will go on a day trip, joining a beautiful local project that plants the seeds of environmental consciousness in local hosts, visitors and (future) policy-makers. Their work is invaluable in the maintenance of this amazing eco-system that serves us all and allows initiatives like organic coffee, bee-keeping, horticulture and eco-tourism to flourish.

On the day trip, a guide will accompany us on a walk through the rainforest and the environmental education area as we learn about the environment and the different benefits the biodiversity offers us. During the walk we will stop at a beautiful natural swimming spot, cooling off in the clear water. And of course, you get to enjoy a lovely local lunch.

THE TEACHERS
Nicole Bongartz

STEFFI GRUBE

Steffi Grube loves to laugh and read, to listen to good music, to sing, forget about time and she is an absolute nerd when it comes to the art of coffee making. She brings all of that into her classes - except for the coffee, sorry!

Steffi is a certified Jivamukti and Vinyasa Yoga teacher, her classes are sweet, sweaty and nourishing, offering you the opportunity to not take yourself too seriously. Her teaching style is grounded, creating a safe space for you in which you can let go and allow your practice to happen.

She has been teaching regular classes, workshops, and intensives at Lord Vishnus Couch, Cologne, Germany since 2009. She also works as a health coach and is a naturopath in training.

SUZE RETERA

Suze is a Psychologist and certified yoga teacher. Throughout the years she deepened her knowledge in both fields by adding Family Constellations, TRE (Trauma Release Exercises) and Yoga Nidra to her qualifications.

Her passion for travel, a conscious lifestyle and (self) healing inspired her to start Global Flow Retreats in 2010. Global Flow Retreats offers retreat programs that have the power to transform your life.

Suze believes strongly that the holistic powers of combining yoga with disciplines like mindfulness, Ayurveda, trauma and stress release practices, or family constellations offer all the tools we need to not only find inspiration but to gain insight and find the healing that can alter the course of our lives.

The next step in this evolution is to use these tools and understanding of our connectedness to create a sustainable lifestyle that supports the eco-system we are a part of instead of depleting it. The sustainability module on the special retreats facilitates this process.

ACCOMMODATION

We will be staying at Chirapa Manta’s Eco-lodge, located in San Martin Region, Andean Amazon in North East Peruvian territory. Only a 40 minute ride from Tarapota city and airport it is easy to reach. The retreat center is surrounded by the Cumbaza River and the Cordillera Escalera Conservation Area.

Chirapa Manta is a sustainable living project. The eco-lodge is built using natural materials and surrounded by the beautiful mountain forest that offers a friendly accessible landscape for you to enjoy. During your stay you will experience a lifestyle that leads to greater health in harmony with nature.

In line with the eco-friendly nature of the accommodation the toilets are all composting toilets that are used in permaculture processes. All beds are equipped with mosquito nets.

You can book a spot in a double or a triple room.
